Pilgrimage of Barnaby of the Indies

Among the dregs of the crew on the fleet bound for India is Barnabé, a young cabin boy, native of the Lamego surroundings, and bearer of a secret. Subjected to the harshest service, he nonetheless experiences, alongside the captain and his brother Paulo, adventures unimaginable for someone of his standing: he crosses the sea and its monsters, the storms outside and within, the euphoria of becoming a man, and as such, very fragile. Many years later, on a merciless winter night, an aged Vasco da Gama receives a visit from a ragged pilgrim who comes to illuminate his memories of the discovery of the sea route to India. And it is through the intersection of these two voices that those who have ears to hear can learn the hidden details of a journey that transformed the perception one had of the world.
