The last Pope

September 29, 1978. The world wakes up to the shocking news of the death of Pope John Paul I, elected just thirty-three days earlier. The Vatican declares that His Holiness died of unknown causes and that the body will be embalmed within twenty-four hours, making any autopsy impossible… 2006. Journalist Sarah Monteiro receives an envelope in her mailbox with a list of names she doesn't know and a coded message. Initially, Sarah is just confused, but after her house is burgled, she realizes that the list puts her in danger.

The contents of the envelope reveal a world of corruption that the journalist had never imagined and helps her discover the truth about the mysterious death of John Paul I. Drawn into a reality where ruthless mercenaries, corrupt politicians, and members of the Church conspire for the same purpose, Sarah will have to choose between telling the world the truth or saving her own life.
