Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights is one of the great masterpieces of English literature. The only novel written by Emily Brontë, it is the powerful and tragically beautiful narrative of the passion of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, a tempestuous and almost demonic love that will ultimately affect the lives of all those around them like a curse. Adopted as a child by the patriarch of the Earnshaw family, the master of Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff is ostracised by Hindley, the legitimate son, and led to believe that Catherine, his sister, does not reciprocate the intensity of his feelings. He thus leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later determined to carry out the most sinister revenge.
