Daniel Maia-Pinto Rodrigues defines himself through three colours: blue, representing childhood and memories; yellow, where satire predominates and he becomes a kind of participating narrator; and purple, representing an approach to the dark, the gothic, and an enchantment for the author. "O Afastamento Está Ali Sentado" synthesizes these three poetic voices without emphasizing any one in particular. It is divided into four books - "A Próxima Cor," "Conhecedor de Ventos," "Queiram Desculpar Mas o Senhor Padre Está No Bosque," and "O Afastamento Está ali Sentado." In the afterword, Maria Rosa Martelo refers to "O Segundo Plano das Aguarelas" - as a place evoked by the author in one of the poems in this book to situate the appearance of poetry.
