In O adolescente (1966), Nita Clímaco describes the adventure of Françoise, a 38-year-old French journalist vacationing in Portugal, staying at an inn in Coimbra. There, she meets Rui, 18, who works at the inn, and begins a romantic affair with him. The former returns to France, and Rui remains in Portugal, madly in love. Unable to bear the distance, he travels to Paris to find her, after receiving a short postcard with a photograph of Paris and the phrase: “My memories of Portugal are intertwined with the good times we spent together.”
The book's cover flaps advertised two banned books. Consequently, PIDE also prohibited the circulation of this novel. By Ana Bárbara Pedrosa.
