Under a black winter sky, death waits patiently… In northern Sweden, in the small town of Luleå, a journalist is brutally murdered. For Annika Bengtzon, a reporter for Stockholm’s Evening Post, there is no doubt that the crime is linked to the investigation of an airbase attack that occurred in the 1960s. But this will be just the first in a series of deaths, each accompanied by a handwritten letter to the family. Against explicit orders from her boss, Annika decides to continue the investigation at her own risk, becoming entangled in a spiral of violence and terrorism orchestrated by a group of Maoist followers who call themselves "The Beasts". The time will come when the young reporter will be forced to re-evaluate her life priorities. But will it be too late?
