A lethal item is discovered. Children begin to fall ill. A terrorist threat is imminent.
Among the ruins of a Soviet military hospital in northern Hungary, two young Roma search for items to sell on the black market, until they find something very valuable. In that object perhaps lies the hope of leaving poverty and even getting rid of some of the prejudice their people are victims of.

Meanwhile, in Denmark, nurse Nina Borg's husband asks her not to get involved in illegal aid projects again during his work absences. Nina accepts, for the sake of the family. And so she refuses the request for help from her colleague Peter, who is grappling with the problems of a Hungarian Roma community living illegally in a dilapidated car workshop. But when children living in that workshop, and Peter himself, start to fall seriously ill, Nina is unable not to help.

The situation turns out to be more dangerous than Nina could have imagined, and now it is not just her marriage that is at risk. It is her life, that of her family, and potentially that of an alarming number of people in the city of Copenhagen.
