Fátima never again

"When, some time ago, I agreed to participate in a debate promoted by Q SIC and openly answered "No" to the question "Do you believe in the apparitions of Fatima?", it was a (nearly) national scandal. Such a thing had never been heard on television, especially from the mouth of a Catholic priest. Unfortunately, the debate aborted shortly after it began, and I was barely able to explain the reasons for my "no." This must have left everyone more or less frustrated, and even thinking less kindly of me. But the impact of my answer was such that even the journalist hosting the debate could not hide his look of astonishment. I therefore hastened to remind him, as well as all Portuguese men and women who, at that time, were tuned into SIC - and there must have been millions, such was the impact of the debate - that, contrary to what most people, even non-Catholics, think, the apparitions of Fatima are not part of the core of the Catholic Christian Faith, which means that one can disbelieve in Fatima and still be a Roman Catholic Christian."
