Mário Cordeiro is a Pediatrician and Professor of Public Health, with a special focus on health promotion, adolescence, and, generally, the promotion of citizenship and the rights of children and young people. Father of five children, he considers reflection urgent and necessary to achieve the degrees of freedom for informed, conscious, and responsible decisions, and for choices towards health-promoting lifestyles. Accurate, valid, and "intelligent" information is, for him, a fundamental step in acquiring knowledge and skills, leading to more assertive performance, more appropriate behaviors, and greater control over risk factors. He believes that the world is getting better and better, and that humanity's evolutionary trend is towards improvement.
