After her husband and daughter die in a brutal car accident, Diane isolates herself at home for a year, immersed in memories, unable to react. But when nothing seems capable of changing, it is precisely one of these memories that leads her to choose Mulranny, a tiny village in Ireland, as her destination. Settled in a house facing the sea, Diane is kindly received by all the inhabitants - all but one.
