At ten the door closes

“At Ten O'Clock the Door Closes” is a peculiar young adult novel, as we hardly find any young characters in it. The book deals with the lives of elderly people in a nursing home. It tells us the stories of the dreams, disappointments, and pains of old men and women who are fighting an inner battle against routine and the forgetfulness of their families. But it is also a moving and entertaining text with a happy ending, as one of the elderly men marries a companion, leaves the home, and together they discover love and build a new life.
