When a famous CERN scientist is found brutally murdered, symbology professor Robert Langdon is called upon to identify the strange symbol carved into the scientist's chest. His conclusion is overwhelming: the mark belongs to an ancient Brotherhood called the Illuminati, supposedly extinct for centuries and an enemy of the Catholic Church. In Rome, the College of Cardinals is gathered to elect a new Pope when they discover the kidnapping of four cardinals, while the Swiss Guard is informed that a dangerous weapon is in Vatican City with the purpose of destroying it.
