The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Hamlet retold with extraordinary brilliance and set on a remote Wisconsin farm. Edgar Sawtelle, a mute and highly intelligent boy, lives an idyllic life with his parents. For generations, the Sawtelles have bred a loving dog breed, perfectly exemplified by Almondine, Edgar's lifelong companion. But when his father suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances, Edgar blames himself for not being able to cry for help. Devastated by his mother's desperate romance with his paternal uncle, his world changes forever when, one spring night, he sees his father's ghost. After a failed attempt to prove his uncle's guilt, Edgar flees with 3 dogs, but his love for his mother and animals, and his desire for revenge, lead him back home. Nothing is as he expected, and he will have to decide between revenge and preserving his family's legacy.
