On the surface of the water

David Maratse just wants to lead a calm and simple life, far from everything, but it seems that all complications seek him out - and find him. One day, while sled hunting with his dogs, he comes across a vessel docked in a remote fjord. There is no sign of people and no one answers when he calls out upon boarding. Once inside the boat, he finds five people, two dead and three unconscious. Meanwhile, somewhere in a mountain hut, the sixth crew member of the Ophelia (the name of the vessel) desperately searches for the missing diaries of the famous German meteorologist Alfred Wegener's expedition to Svartenhuk. When he returns home, Maratse will be surprised by the presence of an unknown young woman, a phone call from a stranger, and a mysterious assignment.
