Sá de Miranda - poetry and theatre

Selected and Introduced by Silvério Augusto Benedito Pioneiro, the poet of Neiva deserves to be valued for the unmistakable traits of his writing and the values that converge within it. He lived in Italy where he associated with the most famous writers who had participated in the Renaissance cultural movement. Upon returning to Portugal, he introduced new Renaissance forms: the sonnet, the song, the ode, the elegy, the eclogue, and the ottava rima, as well as prose theatre (Os Estrangeiros and Os Vilhalpandos).
