Ponte de Lima: Studies in Local History

An extensively illustrated monographic work on the town of Ponte de Lima, covering its pre-medieval aspects, with a focus on archaeological studies from the Iron Age and the phenomenon of Romanisation, through to the Middle Ages with the construction of the medieval town within its walled perimeter. The contribution of archaeology to the study of Ponte de Lima's historic centre occupies one of the central chapters of this work, which also reflects the study and evolution of late-medieval urban planning. Referring to the richness of its built heritage, the town's churches and chapels are presented, as well as the Convent of Santo António, concluding with the Feira de Ponte, an institution that has spanned centuries. In short, Ponte de Lima is a land that is investing in its urban regeneration: "Ponte de Lima - A History with a Future".
