Maria, a young woman from northeastern Brazil, dreams of an adventurous life and finding her true love. When, on a holiday in Copacabana, she meets a man who suggests she come to Switzerland to work as a dancer in a nightclub, she imagines she is living the beginning of a fairy tale - but reality will be much harsher. Maria ends up working as a prostitute, learning to live off sex and use it to satisfy others. However, the true nature of sex - as well as that of love - remains a mystery to her. Until she meets a man who will make her reconsider everything she thinks she knows about the meaning of sexuality... In this journey of self-discovery, Maria will have to risk everything to reconcile with herself and discover the sacred side of sex.
