The Laughter of God

By following the life of Francisco, the central character of this novel, through his choices, his quest, by accompanying him through his wanderings around the world, through history, at the mercy of chance and encounters and, most especially, through the intimacy of some women complicit in the same quest, the author establishes a form of radical questioning. A radicalism that stems from the fact, unprecedented in his writing, that an entire life is put into perspective, with death as its counterpoint. God? Possibly. But a God who laughs, plays, a God passionate about the pure joy of existing.
