The Black Prince

The Black Prince is a love story. But, as one would expect from Iris Murdoch, it is also a thrilling intellectual thriller, a meditation on art, love, and God. Bradley Pearson, the narrator, is a writer with "writer's block". Surrounded by voracious friends and family – his ex-wife and delinquent brother-in-law, his sister, a younger, successful writer named Arnold Baffin, as well as Arnold’s wife – Bradley seeks to escape this social siege to write the work of his life.
His failure leads to a violent climax and an ending that puts everything in a new perspective.
