Rodrigo, the main character in "O Géniozinho" (The Little Genius), belongs to a middle-class family, just like many others. He is dedicated to his studies, computers, and books, completely different from his brother João, who is a spendthrift and seeks immediate personal gratification in life.

Rodrigo is therefore his mother's pride, while João enjoys a complicity with his father that often frustrates their mother. But on his grandfather's birthday, a mysterious artist who lives for music, Rodrigo sits at the piano and is suddenly touched by the magic of childhood, those happy times when his grandfather taught him his first musical notes.
