«Soulmates are not those carved in Heaven. But those who sculpt each other somewhere in their abysses.» Lisbon is the city where no one sleeps. Nor does the narrator of this surreal story. His window overlooks the facade of an apartment building whose inhabitants he imagines the sexual lives of (until he falls in love with a neighbour). However, when he begins to investigate the real lives of these people - and these women - he realises that his imagination is too poor compared to reality; in the «city that never sleeps» desire merges with perdition, delirium with abjection, and there are no boundaries between sexes or between people. An erotic - and pornographic, brutal, dangerous and unclassifiable novel, where we recognise part of the city and its inhabitants. All places are real; the characters, sometimes - but only sometimes - are invented.
