Their names were John and Jenny, they were young, in love, and starting their life together without many worries, until they brought home Marley, "a yellow furball in the shape of a puppy," who quickly transformed into a massive, robust 43-kilo labrador. He was a dog unlike any other in the neighbourhood: he broke down doors, scratched walls, drooled all over guests, stole women's underwear, and chewed on anything he could get his teeth into. Neither the tranquilizers prescribed by the vet nor the "good manners school," from which he was expelled, did any good.
But Marley had a pure heart and his loyalty was unconditional. He shared the joy of the couple's first pregnancy and their heartbreak at the premature death of the fetus, he was always present at the birth of the babies or when the screams of a stabbing victim echoed through the night. He even managed the "feat" of closing down a public beach and landed a role in a feature film, through which he "conquered" many human hearts.
