"Uprooted" tells the story of German refugees in foreign countries, expelled by Hitler's policies. The narrative is dense, woven into a tight and exciting web. It shows us the misery suffered, indiscriminately, by Jews and Aryans, Catholics and Protestants, men of all faiths and ideologies, that entire unhappy retinue who were denied their homeland for not agreeing with the prevailing system in Germany or for having become suspect.
