Whims of love

Newly divorced Dana Stellgarten has always been soft-spoken—even to telemarketers—but now her patience is wearing thin. Money is getting tight, her children are still reeling from their father’s departure, and her goth teenage niece has just landed on her doorstep. As Dana navigates the maelstrom of post-divorce dating and the town’s queen bee befriends her, she discovers that the tension between staying true to yourself and being liked doesn’t end in junior high . . . and that sometimes, you need a true friend to help you embrace adulthood with all its flawed complexity.
