It tells the story of a woman named Gertrude and her entire family.
Tula is a determined woman who manages to impose her opinions on everyone around her. She is the one who runs the household and dedicates her entire life to taking care of her nephews and brother-in-law, even though she harbours a great desire to have her own children.
Tula takes care of her nephews after her sister dies from successive childbirths. Her maternal feeling extends not only to her nephews but also to her brother-in-law, who, despite numerous attempts, cannot gain the attention of Tula, 'the virgin mother'.
