PJ Inspector writes book about "Joana Case".
Do you remember Joana Cipriano? The eight-year-old girl whose disappearance shocked Portugal in 2004? The case and the daily events inherent to it are now recounted in a book by one of the Judicial Police inspectors who followed the investigations. Author and character in A Estrela de Joana (Joana's Star), Paulo Pereira Cristóvão was assigned, along with two colleagues from the Central Directorate for Combating Banditry, to question Joana's uncle, arrested on suspicion of involvement in his niece's disappearance. The inspectors end up getting involved in the investigation and contribute to supporting the theory of homicide. In A Estrela de Joana, the author describes the daily lives of these agents and the progress of the searches. The objective is ultimately never achieved. After weeks of searching, Joana's body is not found. The inspectors return to Lisbon. On a terrace, by the Tagus River, they are moved when they spot a shooting star, Joana's star. A book that stands as a tribute to the courageous Joana, forever in all our memories.
